Paul completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1991. In 2005, he received his law degree from the University of Montana School of Law, where he participated in the criminal defense clinic during his third year.

Paul is a member of the Montana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and received the "Rookie of the Year" award. He is licensed to practice law in state and federal courts in Montana, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. Paul has trial experience in both state and federal courts in Montana.

When he's not practicing law, Paul enjoys spending time outdoors and traveling with his family.
